Don’t Know Your Birth Time? Here’s How to Still Use Human Design

How to Find (or Feel Into) Your Human Design When the Time Is Unclear

One of the most common questions I hear is:
“Can I still run my Human Design chart if I don’t know my birth time?”

The short answer is—yes. And this post will show you how.

Whether your birth time is missing, vague, or totally unknown, you still have options. Human Design is a system of deep remembrance, and that remembering doesn’t always start with perfect data—it starts with you.

Why Your Birth Time Matters in Human Design

Your exact birth time determines your:

  • Energy Type

  • Authority

  • Definition

  • Profile

  • and often your Incarnation Cross

A small change in time can shift parts of your chart—sometimes in subtle ways, and sometimes significantly.

But here’s the truth: You don’t need to have all the answers to start exploring your design. You just need a willingness to get curious—and a few simple tools.

Step 1: Ask & Research

Start by gathering what you can know:

  • Ask anyone who was present at your birth—your parents, an older sibling, family friends. You’d be surprised how often someone remembers it was “early morning,” “just after dinner,” or “in the middle of the night.” Even a time-of-day window helps.

  • Check your birth certificate. If you live in Canada or the US, you can often request a long-form birth certificate, which may include the time (this differs by province/state).

  • Look for hospital notes, baby books, or family documents.Even a time-of-day window is enough.

Step 2: Run Multiple Charts (Right Here on This Page)

Use a trusted chart generator (I offer a free one below) to test a few different times:

  • Morning (8:00 AM)

  • Midday (12:00 PM)

  • Afternoon (3:00 PM)

  • Evening (7:00 PM)

  • Late night (11:00 PM)

Take note of what changes between charts—and where you feel most resonance. Most often, the Energy Type will stay the same throughout the day, but Authority, Profile, or Definition might shift.

I also created a simple worksheet to help you track what you notice: Chart Comparison Worksheet

Step 3: Feel Into It—Your Body Knows

Once you’ve narrowed it down, it’s time to feel, not figure.

Use this post’s guided meditations (linked below) to connect with the possible versions of your chart. Let your body speak.

Ask yourself:

  • Which energy type feels most like me?

  • Do I move through life by initiating (Manifestor)? Waiting to respond (Generator)? Seeking recognition (Projector)?

  • What decision-making style feels natural and nourishing?

Even without certainty, your inner wisdom is available.

The natural next step

Knowing your type is one thing.
Living it is another.

I’ve created guided, self-led Embodied Orientations for each Energy Type, to help you understand your design and start applying it—so it becomes something you live, not just something you know.

Not just through information — through feeling, noticing, and experimenting.

A self-led, guided experience where you’ll:

  • Learn how your energy is designed to work — and why it may not have felt that way in your life so far.

  • Feel alignment in your body

  • Learn what your Not-Self may be showing you

  • Explore how your energy creates flow

  • And understand + begin working with your Strategy in your real life

Through:

  • Video teachings

  • Somatic meditations

  • A workbook for reflection and integration

  • And real-life practices woven throughout

So instead of trying to figure this out on your own…you have a place to begin.
